USPS Releases AMP Studies on Closures and Consolidation

(Updated March 23, 2012)

Last year, on September 15, 2011, the Postal Service issued a list of 252 mail processing facilities that it planned to study for possible closing and consolidation. The USPS has now released to the NPMHU copies of the completed AMP Studies to date. A link to that list is attached below. The Service has redacted certain information from the studies in accordance with their standard practice. They have also redacted mailer names, companies, and titles that were notified of the study. Volume numbers associated with service standard changes have also been redacted. The Postal Service states this data is commercially sensitive and could be advantageous to their competitors. In order to protect market share, the Postal Service insists it must protect the confidentiality of this information.

That said, if any Local feels they need this information to process a grievance to challenge a study, the Local President should contact the National CAD, and we will request this information for them through the usual channels.
